from January 2nd to December 23rd.

Winter schedule daily from end September until Easter*
The centre has aviaries housing over 80 owls and other birds of prey plus features a woodland walk with Red Squirrels, Meerkat Kastle & the S.O.S. Owl Safari for youngsters. There are no formal flying displays during the winter but the birds are exercised regularly and you are welcome to watch. Meerkat Feeding Sessions take place daily - please ask at reception for details.
(Please note we are closed from December 24th to December 26th and on January 1st.)

Special Events for 2016

March 6th - MOTHER'S DAY
"Pot a Plant" for Mum with our compliments, and watch the birds being exercised as we prepare for the new flying display season.

March 25th - 28th - EASTER FUN
The flying displays start, the Meerkats are out, there's the S.O.S. Safari Quiz with prizes and a great Easter Egg Hunt for all young visitors. Plus, free donkey rides for all young visitors on Good Friday.

Jenny and her marvellous menagerie join us again for Easter Bank Holiday Monday - together with all the owls and other birds of prey, flying displays and Meerkat mayhem, it'll be great fun for all the family

Besides our threes dramatic and captivating flying displays, Jenny will be back with her cast of pets and unusual creatures. PLUS! we've laid on BSL sign language interpreted sessions to accompany each of the flying displays for guests who are hard of hearing.

Regular visitors with youngsters will appreciate the return of Jenny's Ark Petting Zoo to the Sanctuary - a great way for kids to find out all about some weird & wonderful reptiles as well old favourites like rabbits and guinea pigs. Plus, of course, many of our flying team - especially the falcons, eagles, kites & buzzards - will relish the water weather as it helps them soar to the skies!

June 19th - FATHER's DAY
Great fun was had by all as we held some amusing Ferret Racing events as a special (and unusual) treat for Dad.

August 21st - BSL SIGNING DAY for the hard of hearing

deaf-signing-logo Magnificent flying displays with BSL sign language interpretation for guests who are hard of hearing.

Join us for a day in the country to enjoy some of the best owl & other bird of prey flying displays you'll ever experience. For the youngsters Jenny's Ark Petting Zoo will be here (free for all visitors to the Sanctuary) plus of course the cheeky inhabitants of Meerkat Kastle and our Red Squirrel Colony.

October 30th - HALLOWEEN HOOT
A half-term treat where those who dare can visit the Haunted Hotel, go bobbing for apples, follow the Tombstone Trail, complete the S.O.S. Safari and more.

Our famous seasonal event will enable both you and your family to get your festive frivolities off to a great start. Our owls and birds of prey will be joined by Father Christmas, his wonderful reindeer plus some other surprise events and guests too. Summer schedule daily from Easter until end September
Our flying season starts at Easter. Three spectacular fling demonstrations take place daily at 11.30, 1.00 and 3.30, interspersed with Meet The Meerkat feeding times at 11.00 and 3.00. Our unique come-and-go admission ticket means you can see all 3 shows - each one featuring 4 different owls and birds of prey - plus both meerkat sessions, but leave the Sanctuary to look around the Stonham Barns complex whenever you like.

Photo Workshop Days at the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary offer something special for all keen photographers - a day in the close company of owls, with an expert wildlife photographer on hand to offer tips & tricks of how to get the best from the experience - find out more here

PLEASE NOTE: PHOTO WORKSHOP DAYS are activity courses which are run at the Centre in tandem with our normal operations, attractions & events. All visitors to S.O.S. are welcome to take any photos or videos of our birds and other animals without charge.
