S.O.S. TEACHER PACKS

Part of our remit as a charity is to inform young people about birds of prey, to promote an understanding of wild raptors & their needs and to help raise awareness of the importance of their conservation for the future. We have devised a series of extensive free, downloadable teacher packs in safe .pdf formats for use in schools which promote these goals.

This resource aims to:

• Provide useful & interesting information about owls & other birds of prey

• Offer a range of stimulating, key stage-related activities

• Include Teachers Guidance Notes, with relevant Foundation & National Curriculum links and subject correlated objectives

• Help to enhance childrens awareness of the importance of raptors & their environment

• Encourage children to be considerate, caring & responsible for their world

The lessons in this resource provide information through a range of inspiring activities. The
FOUNDATION STAGE AREAS are split into the six different sections:
• Personal, Social & Emotional Development
• Communication, Language & Literacy
• Problem Solving, Reasoning & Numeracy
• Knowledge & Understanding of the World
• Physical Development
• Creative Development
The ideas for KEY STAGE 1 & KEY STAGE 2 activities are designed to involve children in learning about Owls and other Birds of Prey in a variety of ways. Topics include areas such as habitat, food chains & adaptation.

Each activity comes with photocopiable resource sheets and/or a list of resources required for each activity. Suggestions for extension activities are also included, which may provide extra stimulation for gifted & talented pupils
