About Suffolk Owl sanctuary

Where conservation comes first

For over two decades, Suffolk Owl Sanctuary has combined expert animal care, hands on conservation and unforgettable wildlife encounters.

Our team of avian trainers, passionate keepers and volunteers work year-round to protect and support native and non-native species while creating inspiring events and experiences for visitors of all ages.

Come and visit to find your own sanctuary in nature. We are a registered charity dedicated to the conservation, rehabilitation and education of the public for birds of prey and other wildlife.

The Sanctuary operates a fully equipped Raptor Hospital, providing specialist care for injured wild birds of prey, with a structured rehabilitation process that supports their gradual reintroduction back into the natural environment.

The Sanctuary delivers its services through a combination of public admissions, donations, corporate sponsorship and grant funding.

In addition, it manages the S.O.S. Wild Owl Nest Box Scheme, a long-established initiative focused on creating, monitoring and maintaining habitats for wild owl populations across the region.

The organisation employs 23 staff members across multiple departmental teams, all committed to ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare, health and safety for both animals and visitors. Their work is further supported by a dedicated team of volunteers who assist with a range of duties under the supervision of full-time staff.

In February 2025, the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary partnered with NatureSAFE to support the preservation of genetic diversity within critically endangered raptor species.

The Sanctuary remains fully committed to taking pride in its work and engagements with the public while promoting the importance of conservation and environment for future generations.
